There are two kinds of organization on this site

They look similar in a list and they are not the same thing. Every listing says which it is, and it is worth knowing why before you contact anybody.

Organizations that joined

They set up an account here and post their own opportunities.

  • Their events appear in the events list and on county pages
  • You sign up through this site, and they see your registration
  • You check in on the day and your hours are recorded
  • They can approve or verify those hours

Organizations listed from public records

They have not joined, and most do not know they are listed.

  • Compiled from public IRS filings and published school district volunteer lists
  • There is nothing to sign up for — you contact them directly, however they publish
  • Their category is inferred from IRS classification codes, not supplied by them
  • Nothing you do here is visible to them unless you get in touch yourself

So the useful question on any listing is which of the two you are looking at. A listing drawn from public records says so on its own page, and the directory keeps the two apart rather than blending them into one list.

Why everything is organised by county

Volunteering is local, so the site is arranged the way the state is: every one of the 75 counties has its own page listing what is happening there and which organizations are in it.

Coverage is uneven, and a county with nothing posted yet is a real possibility rather than an edge case. Those pages do not stop at "nothing here" — they fall back to organizations in the county that take volunteers, and where a county has too few that publish a way to get in touch, the suggestions reach into nearby counties and say so.

Signing up for something

1

Find something

Browse events on the map or in the list — filter by place, cause or date. No login to look.

2

Create a free account to reserve your spot. Under 18? A guardian signs off first.

3

Show up & serve

Check in on the day with the event's QR code — your hours are logged automatically.

4

Get verified

Your school or JDC approves the hours — documented, exportable, done.

If you run an organization

If your organization is already listed here from public records, you can claim it: the listing becomes yours to correct, and you can start posting opportunities on it. If it is not listed, you can register it.

Find your organization Register a new one

See how volunteer management works for schools and nonprofits. To correct or remove a listing, find it in the directory — each one carries its own report control.

Your account and your information

What we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it are set out in full — this page describes how the site works and deliberately does not paraphrase them, because a summary that drifts from the commitment is worse than no summary.
